Finally!!
Well, Jennifer helped me re-create my blogspot, so she cut and pasted some of my previous postings to this new one, called Meadow in Montrose! So now I can continue with a journal of our escapades!
I went to Ernie's logging camp last week, July 8- 15th, near the town of Kremling, CO. I stayed in their Nomad trailer, where the loggers stay (that is, Ernie, Wes and Arls). So it was nice to be there with them and see how they live. ;0 I wouldn't want to make it my life's work, that's for sure!! It was so hot most of the week, in the 90s everyday, so the roads get so dry they are thick with dust. I would take lunch to them in the bush each day, so they didn't have to eat sandwiches all the time. There was one steep corner on the dirt road that was too sharp and dusty, I actually spun out in that dirt! So I had to walk a ways to get one of the guys, and Arlin drove one of the trucks down to get the lunch, and we ate in the shade.
This week I'm back to my normal duties, watching Keagan and Kaden on Monday and answering phones at Grace Community Church on Tues. So the rest of the week is open to other volunteer jobs, baking, or visiting with friends. I try to go to some of Wade and Jenn's games, too, and can watch the boys if they both play.
Here's something that happened on Tues, June 28th, that I will never forget!! I went into the Post Office to get our mail, and left my purse in the van. When I got back in and drove to W&J's, I didn't notice it right away, but on the way I reached down to put my mail keys back in the purse and it wasn't there!!! I couldn't believe it!! I stopped on the side of the road and looked and looked around, but it just wasn't anywhere!! I was at the PO at 4:55 p.m., five min. before it closes! Well, I reported it to the police right away, like within 20 min. of the theft! I couldn't stay at W&J's for supper, I was too upset, and had to stop at the police station to give the Officer the details.
I got on the phone and cancelled all my credit cards that nite! Then the next day I had to open three new bank accounts, because I had my checkbook in the purse, and also all the account numbers of other accounts I handle, so I would have the number handy when I had to make a deposit.
The biggest thing I've been having trouble with is getting a temporary driver's licence!! I can't believe how hard it is!! They would not even look up my name at the office, because I HAVE to have a photo ID. Well, this is where it's bad, because I had ALL my ID in that purse, because just the week before I got back from Sarah and Ray's wedding in BC, so my CDN passport and Social Ins. card were still in there!! So I have no photo ID. I went twice to the Dr. Lic office, and they didn't budge at all! You see, there has been corruption in that branch (driver's licences across the country!) where they have been selling CDLs, and regular dr. lic. to illegal aliens. So I can see their side (sort of) where they have to be so strict! But it puts innocent, honest people like me at a disadvantage! It's like I'm guilty until proven innocent.
Anyway, I'm progressing in getting everything. I got another SSN (that's the US number) card, my birth certificate (large and small!!), and sent off for my CDN passport on Saturday. The guarantor we use is a state patrolman here in Montrose, so while I was talking to him, he called the motor vehicle branch, and requested a copy of my driver's licence!! Hallelujah!! So maybe I'll have another one this week!
But then I have to get my SIN card from Canada, but need to wait on some other ID to get that!!What a week that was! I was in tears a few times. I can't even write a check out at WalMart, because they ask for a photo ID! HA! So I have to use my credit card.
Oh yeah, I asked for a credit report, and mine is great!! There's nothing fishy on it, yet! I'll write for a couple more in a few weeks' time, and see if anything has changed. But it didn't seem that anything has been used yet.
Maybe some younger kids got it for the cash, which was only $50 They can have it, if they give the rest of it back!! But if some skilled identity thieves have it, they may change the picture on my Green Card, which is the worst thing! But pray with me that it will turn up somewhere, someday! The officer that took the report is a good help! When I called him one time, I addressed him as Constable Princen. He just laughed, and said I sure sounded Canadian!! :)
This coming weekend Mark and Tamara are coming for a visit. Mark is checking out a couple opportunities for a job, and we pray that the right door will open for them! Right now they plan on staying in Sante Fe, because Tamara has such a good job. But they need to know where Mark should be working fulltime.
It's been great reading all the other blogs, too!! God bless you all, and to all a good night!
